Synspective and Addvalue Form Partnership to Strengthen Earth Observation Services and Deliver Fast Response to Customers’ Needs
Synspective Inc., a SAR satellite data and solutions provider, and Addvalue Innovation, a state-of-the-art communication terminals provider for space, air, land and sea, are partnering to enable urgent delivery of high-quality imagery in challenging disaster environments. The collaboration will leverage Addvalue’s innovative Inter-satellite Data Relay System (IDRS™) implemented over the Inmarsat’s world-leading ELERA satellite network.
Synspective’s high-frequency, high-resolution SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites provide data analytics and solution services that are especially effective for disaster risk management and disaster resilience. The aim is to establish a constellation of 30 SAR satellites by around 2026 that facilitates wide-area, high-frequency earth observation round the clock – even in cloudy or stormy conditions or at night.
Addvalue is providing its state-of-art IDRS™ solution to deliver the consistent, on-demand, 24/7 data connection services that low earth orbit (LEO) satellites require. This cutting-edge technology supports mid-size data transfer at rates in excess of 200 Kbps in all orbital inclinations and at altitudes of up to 1000 km.
Prompt and effective disaster management in the event of landslide or flooding depends on instant access to on-demand information and frequently updated data covering affected areas. IDRS™ enhances and optimizes the operational efficiency of the Synspective constellation – minimizing system response times to enhance crisis management.
Toshihiro Obata, Synspective board director and general manager of its Satellite System Development Department, said, “We’re excited to be working with Addvalue to explore the possibilities opened up by its IDRS™ solution to strengthen our data services and deliver the fast response our customers need. In the aftermath of a natural disaster, high-quality data is required as quickly as possible. We believe that Addvalue’s IDRS™ can enhance the management, responsiveness and efficiency of our SAR satellites by delivering task orders and checking the status across our constellation.“
Tan Khai Pang, chief executive officer of Addvalue, commented, “We’re honored to be working with Synspective to optimize its SAR data freshness – a key objective for the constellation. By delivering tasking orders to Synspective satellites in real time, we’ll dramatically reduce the interval between request and delivery of the SAR image. This fast response is essential for effective disaster risk management in rapidly changing situations.”
“Inmarsat is proud to be the provider of the communications link between Synspective and their fleet of satellites,” said Todd McDonell, President of Inmarsat Global Government. “By accessing our geostationary ELERA satellites for tasking and delivery of SAR images via IDRS, Synspective can deliver a more timely and reliable service to their disaster response clients. The swift delivery of these images can be critical for saving lives and safeguarding communities which is central to Inmarsat’s mission.”
